Just about 2 Hours Drive from Bangalore & you find yourself in the cradle of nature amidst a lush green forest on the river beds of cauvery. Bheemeswari is a fun  filled adventure camp ideal for a getaway from the hustle bustle of metro city.

Meandering through the woody landscape amidst the forests of Karnataka is the Cauvery, the most majestic and sacred river of South India. The river offers opportunity to both adventure and nature lovers. Nestled along this beautiful river is the Bheemeshwari Fishing & Nature Camp, world renowned as home to the great “Mahseer” the finest and one of the largest fresh water sport fish known to man. Tucked away from the milling crowds, yet close enough for you to reach. This camp offers a slice of nature that is charming and picturesque.

Haven to over 200 species of birds, some of the commonly sighted ones are they grey headed fish eagle, pied crested cuckoo, darter etc., just name few. Among the mammals that are spotted in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary are the sambar, spotted deer, jackals, the highly endangered grizzled giant squirrel, the leopard and elephants, However, the mighty Mahseer has always been a major attraction of the waters of River Cauvery here. Some of our guests have landed 100 pounds and heavier Mahseer in this stretch of the river.

The River Cauvery is hardly what one would call tame. Its course includes gorges, waterfalls, rapids, dense forests and much more. The Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp is a paean to this majestic river. A wonderful mix of delightful nature and wild adventure, this camp is close enough for easy access and far enough to cut yourself off from the everyday humdrum.

Whether it's action-packed adventure or just a chance to get closer to nature, Bheemeshwari Nature and Adventure Camp is just the place for it. A range of adventurous activities from zip line, rope walking, kayaking, etc. are worth trying. Wildlife that can be spotted in these parts includes elephants, deer, crocodiles, turtles, snakes and about two hundred bird species. But the chief crowd puller is the Mahseer - the largest tropical gamefish known to man. Though you can't try catch one here anymore, this elusive monster still exercises a lot of clout in these parts.

The best time to visit is just after the monsoons, between August and February, when the river is alive and the forest is thick and verdant. This is the best time for birdwatching as well - river terns, fishing eagles, wood peckers, kingfishers and other water birds flock here. During the other months, the water recedes and reveals wide sand banks, which are great for idling away the evening. The summer months (March - June) can be very warm, especially in the afternoon.

River Based Activities: Cauvery beckons as soon as you check in. Dip your feet in the pristine waters and you can actually feel the travails of city life fading away. Accompanied by our guides, even the novices amongst you can try a hand at joy fishing. Ride down the Cauvery in a Coracle, while the serenity of nature and a breathtaking sunset across the river with bird dotting the twilight sky are memories that you will endure forever.

The Mahseer in the water of River Cauvery attracts hundreds of professional anglers from across the globe to our fishing camps. The angling season starts during mid-November till March the next year. We assist 8 to 10 guests a day with their fishing, providing them fishing guides (Gillis), coracle boats and bait. Fishing hours start at 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM and then from 4 PM to 7 PM. Mahseer caught are duly released back into the waters to ensure that this endangered species is conserved.

Guests can also enjoy river rafting on Cauvery during the monsoon season (mid-June to September)

Land Based Activities: The camp offers trekking around the surroundings of Basavana Betta. The 6 hour trek will give you a panoramic view of the Cauvery flowing through the valley below. Treks of a shorter duration are also possible, early in the mornings. You can also explore the ancient Shiva temple, a stone’s throw away from the Bheemeshwari amp, which though in ruins, is still revered by the local tribal’s.

The Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary with its craggy rocks and hilly terrain is an ideal place to conduct treks and team-building exercises for corporate groups. Camping under the star-spangled skies is also an option that awaits you here. Chat in the warmth of the campfire and relax on the sandy riverbank till the barbecue gets done.

During the monsoon months of June, July and August the river is full and the forest beautiful and lush. At other times of the year water recedes to reveal wide sand banks where you could lay back and rejuvenate yourself in the evenings. Between September and February, the weather is cool and pleasant and is the best time to visit the place. This is also the ideal time for bird watchers to treat themselves as river terns, fishing eagles, king fishers, and plenty of other species flock here. Summers (March-June) are generally very warm, especially in the afternoons.
